Every direct booking is the commission you keep.
For most hotels and operators, the highest-leverage software project is not a new website. It is a booking engine good enough that guests stop routing through an intermediary taking fifteen to twenty percent. That is a conversion problem with a very direct financial reading, and it is decided by how many taps stand between wanting the room and having it.
The problems that are specific to this sector.
Availability must be true everywhere at once
Rooms sold on several channels against one inventory. A sync delay is an overbooking, and an overbooking is a refund plus a review.
The booking funnel is unforgiving
Every extra step loses guests, and mobile is the majority of the traffic. The difference between a good and a poor booking engine is measured in points of conversion on the same traffic.
Demand is seasonal and spiky
Systems sized for the quiet season meet a campaign, a long weekend or a mention somewhere and fall over precisely when a booking is worth most.
What we build for travel & hospitality
- Direct booking engines built for mobile, with as few steps as the payment allows
- Channel manager and PMS integrations so availability and rates stay consistent
- Guest portals: pre-arrival, check-in, upsells, and requests during the stay
- Dynamic pricing and availability rules driven by your own demand history
- Review, loyalty and re-marketing flows that bring a guest back directly next time
What shapes the build
Requirements we design against in this sector. These describe obligations that apply to systems like yours — they are not claims that we hold a certification.
- PCI DSS scope on card handling, minimised by keeping payment fields with the processor
- Consumer cancellation and disclosure rules, which differ by market and shape what the booking flow must state
- Accessibility, which for booking flows is both a legal exposure and a straightforward loss of bookings
- Multi-currency, tax and local levy handling, which is a correctness problem rather than a display one
The engagements this usually begins with.
Each says who it is for and, more usefully, who it isn't.

Fifteen percent of every room, paid to an intermediary
An independent property fills its rooms reliably and gives up a large share of each booking in commission, because the direct booking experience is worse than the one the intermediary offers. Fixing that is a conversion problem with a very direct financial reading.

Check in time, parking, late checkout, breakfast, the wifi password. A guest messaging agent answers them the moment they are asked, and the upsell that used to depend on the desk being free happens on its own.

Can you integrate with our PMS or channel manager?
Most of the major ones expose an API and we build against it. Where yours does not, we will say so before quoting rather than discovering it mid-build, because that particular surprise is expensive.
Will this actually reduce our OTA commission?
It gives you the mechanism. Direct booking share moves when the direct experience is better and the rate is at least matched, and both of those are decisions you make. We will be honest about which half is engineering.
We are a small operator. Is a custom booking engine worth it?
Sometimes not, and the arithmetic is easy to check: commission paid annually against build and running cost. Where an off-the-shelf engine plus a good site is the right answer, we will show you the numbers behind that.
What is the most expensive thing your team still does by hand?
Tell us, and we'll tell you honestly whether software can fix it, and roughly what it would cost. No pitch deck.
