Do I get a rewritten file back?

What exactly is the ATS check?
We run the file through a parser and show you what comes out the other side. Multi-column layouts, text inside images, tables, and unusual fonts are the usual culprits, and none of them announce themselves — the resume just quietly arrives as gibberish.
